Our flat comprises the ground floor and private garden of a Victorian town house, nicely decorated with period furniture (because our grandparents were 'period' and that's where most of it came from...). There are two double bedrooms (linen and hair-dryer provided), one with a sofa-bed, both with french windows leading onto the garden. The living room has an airy bay window, cast-iron fireplace, comfy chairs, satellite TV and a wifi-connected laptop if you want it. The kitchen is clean and well-equipped, including an oven and gas hob, bread-maker and washer/dryer. Bathroom is clean and has a shower/bath (towels provided). No smoking in the house, us or you...
The 25m garden has a neat lawn, BBQ, table & chairs, and raspberries, salad leaves and beans you will be encouraged to pick! There's off-street parking at the front of the flat. We can arrange for our regular cleaner to come during your stay if you want. All other bills are included of course, and we'll set you up with some basic supplies in the fridge.
Things to do nearby
Forest Hill is leafy and a bit genteel, with Dulwich Park and Picture Gallery, Sydenham Woods, and the whimsical and family-friendly Horniman Museum all just short walks away. Beckenham Spa has gyms, swimming pools, steam rooms, sport facilities and a beauty centre. Crystal Palace Park and athletics arena (base for the Brazilian team) is just down the road. There are some nice restaurants and pubs, two delis, and a large Sainsburys supermarket nearby. And our neighbours are a pretty friendly bunch and will look out for you.
London's on your doorstep of course! Both the main Olympic Park and Oxford Street are 30 minute train rides away, and if you're 24h explorers the night bus from central London will drop you off at the end of our road. Forest Hill is also on the main train line heading south out of London, bringing you within easy reach of the Georgian, now also bohemian, beach resort town of Brighton, a clutch of castles including the breathtaking Arundel Castle, and also the South Downs National Park if you want to really stretch your legs.
